With Gore in office this would no longer be a tragic joke on The Colbert Report met with groans and laughter. Rather, it might actually be a valid question.
I honestly don't want anyone else but Al Gore to be president.
What can I say?
I'm a dreamer.
But I know I'm not the only one. ;)
I heard this song the other day and it reminded me of wanting Al to run. Sad isn't it? I've never daydreamed about a politician. Well, not in a pleasant way....
But, I'm also a logical person.
I don't really have fun gambling and I research everything for hours on end before I make important decisions. I'm not into organized religion, but I believe in the importance of spirituality and I would hang out with Jesus if he was around.
I believe we landed on the Moon and I don't think bombs were planted in the World Trade Center on September 11th.
I believe war is unnecessary in this day in age and that every person on earth should have access to the internet.
I also believe Al Gore is going to run.
It's hard in times like these I guess to know what you should think, or who to trust. It's beyond depressing at this point. Especially the media. Look what it did to us.
Turns out my Mom was right. Watching TV all day really does rot your brain.
I feel like everywhere I turn someone is trying to get me to believe their lies.
What the hell happened?
I guess in a nutshell it's pretty simple. Television being a one way form of communication allowed money to corrupt the system of government we had in place. So now we're all stuck trying to live our lives while people with too much money essentially brainwash us to buy their shit.
And it's not only limited to selling items. It's selling beliefs, opinions and ideas to push idiotic agendas that destroy countries and negatively affect people all over the planet.
And while they're at it, they also steal our resources without regard for the land, the people or even the very air we breathe.
All for the love of money.
Al Gore wrote a whole book outlining this very problem and the solution. Basically it involves an educated and involved society with a properly functioning democracy. Go figure.
Right now our democracy is not functioning.
I offered this a few months ago about The Assault on Reason and it still stands.
If you haven't read the book already I would recommend it above anything else. If you can't afford a copy, I will send you mine.
I donated $20.08 toward the ad in the New York Times. I've never donated to anything like this before. Well, a few dollars into local collections for medical bills. But nothing official and definitely not to a politician.
Like I said earlier, I don't like to gamble. It may sound strange, but I'm not worried I wasted my money.
My "official" guess is the 15th. I'm sure there are going to be a ton of diaries about this over the next few days. There's not a lot of hope going around these days, so I'm really looking forward to it. Feel free to join in the fun :)
